Embroidery

Embroidery is an age-old process of weaving a design onto fabric using a thread and needle. Today, instead of someone actually sewing a design by hand, a digital file is created that tells a machine how and where to put each stitch. Embroidery works best with simple, low colour count logos or artwork. Photographs and artwork with fine detail or gradients usually can not be embroidered. We’ll be sure to contact you if this is the case and recommended ways we can alter your design or suggest alternative printing methods.

After we receive your order and review your artwork, the first step in the process is to “digitize” your design. This just means we are creating a digital file that contains instructions on how to stich your artwork. Once digitized, the file is send to the embroidery machine and the design will be sewn out onto the product. Embroidered logos generally use between 5,000 – 10,000 stiches to create your design. Very intricate indeed!

Screen Printing

Screen printing is probably what you think of when you think about t-shirt printing. It’s the traditional t-shirt printing method in which each colour in a design is separated out and burned to individual fine-mesh screens. Ink is then transferred to the shirt through the screen. Teams, organizations, and businesses usually opt for screen printing because it’s extremely cost-effective for printing large custom apparel orders.

The first thing we do is separate out the colours in your logo or design using graphic software. A mesh stencil (screen) is then created for each colour in the design (keep that in mind when ordering screen prints because each colour adds to the cost). To create the stencil, we begin by coating the fine mesh screen with an emulsion. Once dried, we “burn” the artwork into the screen by exposing it to a bright light. We now have a screen for each colour in the design which are then used as stencils for printing onto the product.

We have a 25 garment minimum on all Screenprinting orders.

Advantages: Vibrant Colours, No size constraint, Cost-Effective for Large Quantities, Perfect for Hi-Vis garments, Best for Simple 1-2 Colour Logos & Graphics.

Disadvantages: Limited Colour Choices, Gradients are not replicated, Fine details are not replicated.

Digital Transfer

Digital Transfer involves a Solvent ink printer and a heat press. The special substrate is feed through the printer, your type or design which often can be created in Adobe Illustrator has a special contour cut line added so the printers software can recognise the cut shape. Once printed this is weeded and applied to the garment using a time /pressure heat press.

Digital Transfer is often used as treatment on a garments, bags, hats… We often use this process for dimensional designs applied to long sleeve tops, named & numbered team uniforms, funky cap logos, tote bag designs and polyester. If you’re not sure if your artwork is suitable for this method just ask us and we can have a look and let you know.

We have a 1 garment minimum on all Digital Transfer orders.

Advantages: Vibrant Colours, No size constraint, Gradients are replicated & Colour Matching is possible, Perfect for short runs.

Disadvantages: Fine details are not replicated, Designs maybe simplified. Minimum Height & Width of text/strokes is 6mm, Graphics may fade over time, Not cost-effective for large quantities.

Washability: Long-Lasting.
